What does the TETRA consist of?

The TETRA instrument consists of a pair of electronic devices, the patient console and the operator tablet (also called the command console), and a number of accessories.

Where can I find the user manual and documentation?

The instructions for use, EU Declaration of Conformity, installation guide, and package contents description are on the USB flash drive that comes with the instrument.

What is the USB flash drive that comes with the instrument for?

The USB flash drive is a special drive that acts as both a memory flash drive and a recovery and software update disk for the TETRA.

You can use the USB flash drive to:

  • store PDF reports
  • update the Tetra software
  • restore the Tetra software

How long does the battery last? How long does it take to charge?

The patient console must be kept connected to the power supply by the supplied power cord during its regular operation. In places without a power supply, the internal battery lets it operate for about 3 hours. It takes about 2–3 hours to fully charge the tablet.

The battery life of the operator console is approximately 4-8 hours (standard-maximum). Battery life is intended for continuous operation of the instrument. It takes about 2–3 hours to fully charge the tablet.

Where is the instrument's serial number (SN)?

The product serial number label is on the back of the monitor. Note: The SN should be reported when requesting assistance. The same number is also on the instrument’s packaging box.

Where can I find the instrument version?

Go to the Setup window, go to the 5th icon, “Product Info,” and read the version of the software and hardware currently installed on your device.

What is the instrument's Ethernet connector for?

The ETH connector, located in the left side of the patient console, is used to print on a network printer or to connect the internet network cable for technical support to remotely access the instrument in case of malfunctions or the need for updates.

How does the connection work between the operator's tablet and the patient console?

The instrument comes with the two devices configured to the BT channel n. 5, already paired and so ready for use. You need only turn on the patient console and the operator tablet and wait for the connection to be established. For more information or to change the BT channel, see the user manual.

Advanced settings and functions

Can I receive the report files without using the USB flash drive?

Yes, you can receive the report files through Bluetooth on your Android smartphone or your PC (Windows or Linux). The files will be automatically sent to the paired device at the end of the test.

To use this function, pair the TETRA with your device through Bluetooth (BT).

This function is not available for Apple devices (Mac, iPhone, …).

What is the purpose of pairing the TETRA's Bluetooth?

Pairing the TETRA with your Android smartphone or your PC (Windows or Linux) by BT is used to automatically receive the PDF reports as soon as they are generated. Pairing need only be done once and then the files are sent automatically. Once you have received the files via BT on your device you can easily manage them in various ways, such as forwarding, storing, and printing them.

How can I pair the TETRA with my device via BT?

Make BT visible and accessible on your device. Then, from the TETRA setup menu, go into the first icon “Report” and start pairing (option 3/5). Follow the directions that appear at the bottom of the patient screen.

Can the reports be printed?

Yes, the instrument can automatically send reports to the printer as soon as they are generated. To use this function, you must have a WiFi-compatible or network printer (see user manual).

How do I set up the network or WiFi printer?

With the network cable inserted, access the Setup window, select the 1st icon and start the printer search by pressing the start button from the 4/5 option, “Network Printer.”

To set up a WiFi printer, enter the network access data (1st icon, option 5/5) and then start the printer search as indicated above.

How do I update TETRA's software?

What is the best brightness setting for the patient monitor?

The Tetra Patient Console LCD screen is factory calibrated to ensure visual stimuli with quantitatively accurate and repeatable brightness values. Do not vary brightness setting which should stay at the factory setting of “Brightness = 75%”. Press the Brightness button to make sure the value is set to 75%.

Where can I find support information for the operator console?

For the Operations Console FAQ, see the AOC BT Console. All information is also available in the TETRA user manual.

Who can see how my TETRA is used? What about privacy?

We accept no gray areas on this point. The answer is: no one will see how you use your TETRA! The instrument does not track the use you make of it; it does not collect data, and no data is transmitted to anyone from the vision chart you have purchased. We do not see you and your work as products to be tracked for business.

What precautions should be taken to prolong the life of the battery?

Lithium-ion batteries have a predetermined useful life, a maximum number of recharges, and an efficiency curve which, like all batteries, declines with use and the passage of time. Multiple factors can shorten battery life. Some important tips for proper use include: do not leave the tablet with an empty battery; do not leave the tablet off with USB devices inserted; always use the original charger. Follow all the instructions in the user manual to extend the useful life of the batteries.

Troubleshooting

“No signal” appears on the patient console monitor / nothing appears on the monitor.

The device may have shut down due to prolonged lack of use (based on Energy Management settings). Power down the patient console by holding the power button for 3 seconds.

The patient console's battery is completely empty.

Remember to power down the patient console after having started the shutdown. Hold down the power button for a few seconds, until the red LED (power-on LED) turns off. This is the only way that the patient console can be completely turned off and unpowered so its battery level will be maintained until the next use.

The patient console does not start up.

If the power-on LED is on, press the power button until the red LED turns off, then try to turn on the patient console again.

Charge the tablet for an extended period, even an entire night.

Remember to never leave the tablet with the battery completely empty; the battery charge level could drop below a critical value, causing difficulty in restoring normal use.

The patient console turns on, but after the initial start-up phase it turns off immediately.

The battery could be too low; keep charging for at least a few minutes before trying to start it again.

Patient console touchscreen is not working.

In order to use the touchscreen, make sure that the USB connector (cable at the top left) is correctly inserted into a USB port.

The use of Tetra via touchscreen is only possible in the “Setup” window to facilitate the modification of settings and in the “Tetra Rehab” setting, i.e. to carry out the Trigram visual training even without the operator tablet.

Connection problems between the patient console and the control tablet.

Unpair the instruments and repeat the pairing as indicated in the user manual.
